Baby Bonnies are Back!

You know when we really love a style around these parts when we run it in two lengths! The Baby Bonnie skirt is the little sister of Bonnie, the exact same perfect cut, but around 5cm shorter (plus it sounds a whole lot cuter, right?). Part of our Golden Apple range, she is launching in a range of amazing fabrics, including metallic linens, canvas, liberty lawn and fun kitschy cotton prints. We’ve saved the best bits for Baby Bonnie!

Baby Bonnie in Autumn Picnic

Baby Bonnie is the same flattering cut as the Bonnie but with less length going into winter so you can wear her with tights and boots and have just the right amount of leg showing! It’s also an ideal length for the shorter gals of the world (like a few of the made590 ladies!). We love the way the hemline kicks out slightly where the lovely reinforced band sits around the bottom, creating a structured but fun cut which will be versatile with a lot of our tops and basics.

Baby Bonnie in Winter Floral Linen

The length (similar to a Kelly or Kylie skirt) will be long enough for summer, but perfect in winter if you want to wear knee high boots. The same cute pocket placket detail will break up busy patterns, and the flattering pleats will give you an ideal a-line silhouette back and front. Belt loops complete this skirt giving you the option of tucking in your favourite top and belting to dress it up if you wish.

Baby Bonnie in Citrus Jacquard

Wear this little lady with fitted tops (such as our flutter tee, autumn long sleeves and Rizzo tee) tucked into the waistband and your favourite belt to finish, or with a blousy top such as the Ginny, Felicity or three leaf for a more relaxed look.

Baby Bonnie Skirt in Luxe

You could wear bare legs and mid calf boots, our metallic sneakers with patterned socks or throw on some sandals while summer sticks around. Remember the Baby Bonnie is a slightly shorter length, so will be really versatile with many shoe combos and layers too. We are looking forward to wearing ours under warm coats, with chunky scarves and simple tops this winter.

Introducing Ray’s Galaxy!

RAYS GALAXY TOPS SKIRTS

A brand new print to made590, Ray’s Galaxy pays homage to Ray Eames and our love for mid century design. This limited edition screen print is designed in Sydney by Kirbee Lawler exclusively for made590. We worked with the best local screen printers; Publisher Textiles, choosing four unique seasonal colour ways to create Ray’s Galaxy, a textured starburst design which comes as a large all-over print with mid century boxes behind, and as the original galaxy print itself, a small scale busy pattern which can be worn with other prints. We chose metallics like copper and rose gold to highlight the beautiful colour ways and reflect the mid century feel. We hope you love this new print of ours as much as we enjoyed creating it for you!

Christina is wearing a Sarah Top in Navy and a Patsy Skirt Longer Length in Breezy Ray’s Galaxy

Our new Longer Patsy Skirt is a gorgeous addition to the made590 family! If you love the Bonnie Skirt then this will be right up for alley, especially if you like a mid length skirt with some movement! This skirt is part of our very special Golden Apple range which range brings together our most special and favourite fabrics with gorgeous new styles.

The Patsy Skirt is one of our fullest shapes which sits below the knee in this longer length. Our long Patsy is 10cm longer than our usual Patsy shape. Perfect for people who don’t like showing their knees. With a fitted waistband and similar sizing to the Bonnie Skirt, the Pasty also has practical side hidden pockets! We love patsy because of her 1950s style, her practical and versatile length and her gorgeous flowy lyocell & cupro base fabric. This skirt is a lovely swishy shape with lots of movement, but not too much fullness due to the flat pleating at the front. Works best sitting high or mid waist. As with all our gathered and pleated skirts, the fullness and detailing is at the front and back but not the sides, which means you won’t feel wider or have an unflattering silhouette on your hips no matter the fabric weight.

The Patsy Skirt is a great every day skirt to wear out to dinner or even to the office. This fabric has a lovely matte finish and feel similar to rayon. Due to the wonderful screen printing, this print will last in the wash and keep it’s vibrancy. The lyocell & cupro blend is a fabric with similar qualities to rayon. Cool and breezy in summer and easy to layer in winter. This patsy has a lovely drape but a nice amount of structure in the cut. Wear her with your favourite ankle boots and tights, layered in winter or with a pair of leather sandals in summer. We love Patsy with any of our cute cotton basics like the Sarah, Keyhole or our flutter tees. Or you can try mixing it up and pattern clashing with a print in a different scale or a nice texture. Longer length of the patsy will be great with our winter cardigans or tucked in tees, let the print speak for itself and team it with simple shapes and one of our amazing leather belts. Kelly wears Shelly Top in Ray’s Galaxy and Patsy Skirt Longer Length in Blush Ray’s Galaxy

The Shelley Top is a lovely style we created as an easy basic which can be a versatile staple for work or weekends. We love good shapes in great prints here at made590 and this Shelley top is part of our Golden Apple range which combines both in limited edition runs.

Featuring a higher scooped neck with centre back seam, the Shelley top is a simple shape that oozes personality. The clean lines on this top are thanks to the facings around the neckline and sleeves which sit seamlessly and flat against your body. This gives Shelley a clean look and makes her the perfect canvas for our wonderful prints! She also works so well in the Lyocell and Cupro base we have chosen to make her in due to its drape and softness. Bust darts make for a perfect fit and a back seam allows us to add shaping without taking away from the room needed in the hips and tummy area. Side splits at the hem mean the top can be worn loosely and layered too. We have adjusted the hemline to be straight and the same length for versatility (Shelley used to feature a curved uneven hem back and front). We have all made sure she has enough length for the taller ladies who love this style!

Rays Galaxy Shelly Top-made590

Liza is wearing the Ray’s Galaxy Shelly Top in Blush and the Patsy Skirt in Native Bouquets

This top is a great shape for work as it is semi-fitted at the bust, loose through the body and hugs you in all the right places. Looks wonderful teamed with one of our long sleeve basics under or wool cardigans over the top. Due to the loose fit Shelley works really well tucked into pants or high waisted skirts, but the drape of the Lyocell and Cupro works well worn untucked over a flat front skirt such as Kelly, Kenzie or Kylie. We love this shape for a dressy occasion where the prints can shine and be the focal point of the outfit. The length of shelley will work well on taller ladies, but not be too long on you if you’re smaller. You can even wear Shelley out with jeans and belt over the top of your layers with one of our excellent leather belts to create a high waist look!

Gertrude Made Dresses Have Arrived!

Three new beautiful dresses have arrived instore and online, made from the gorgeous Outback Wife series of fabric from Gertrude Made. This range of fabric has a really lovely back story and has been named after women who live in the Outback and their stories. Here is a little bit of the back story behind the range from Cathi, the lady behind Gertrude Made.

blog-OUTBACK-WIFE-MADE590

“Many of the old barkcloths I’ve sewn with over the years have had women’s names on the selvedge. I always wondered if they were the names of real women and if so, who were they?

So that, combined with my belief that the more good fortune one has, the more obligation one has to give back. I decided with this opportunity I would like to give back to my fellow rural women, here, and elsewhere, by raising awareness of the reality of living life on the land.

While social media has in some ways worked towards closing the gap between city and country, I feel in another it has widened it. Oftentimes I feel that social media depicts rural life in an overly ‘styled’ way, and leaves many city folk believing it’s a leisurely ‘lifestyle’. True, it’s a life filled with joyful moments and great beauty, but it’s also a life that requires courage, resilience and strength to face the countless challenges of environment and isolation.

I hope by bringing you these women’s stories, I can play a small part in providing some balance to that ‘styled’ country life perspective, because behind the food you eat and the fibre you wear, there are real people and these people have stories and lives that don’t need editing or styling to be inspirational.

They’re my reasons behind the naming.

To finally share this collection which has taken more than 18 months to create feels much like I imagine undressing in front of a room full of strangers would. I’m laying my heart out for everyone to see and being a private person, I feel quite emotional for it all. This collection says very much who I am.

I’m truly thankful to my rural ladies for sharing their stories with me and for allowing me to share them with you.”

IMG_3310Aggie Dress – Outback Wife Elaine GreenIMG_3270Aggie Dress – Outback Wife Kirstine Blue

Get ready to meet your new favourite dress! Aggie is the big sister to Agatha, which had the same cut-out keyhole back and shaped, fitted bodice, but was a sleeveless shape with lots of party potential. We wanted Aggie to be the grown up version of our favourite party dress, with a cute capped sleeve to give just that little bit more coverage and the same perfectly gathered knee length skirt which means she will lend herself to events as well as work and weekend fun! and of course, she has pockets!IMG_2956Penelope Dress – Outback Wife Kirstine Green

Penelope features two pockets at the front of the dress and and flattering cap sleeves. This style sits just above the knee, and is an Aline skirt shape. It always features a rounded boat neckline. This fun, classic shape looks great teamed with your favourite pair of sandals or clogs or perhaps stockings and boots for the colder days. Because of its fun and classic shape you can wear her on the weekend or even dress it up to wear to work! You are bound to stand out in the crowd in this dress – and you know we love that at Made590!

We are completely in love with this new range of fabric from Gertrude Made and think you’ll love it as much as we do!
