Our genius new skirt: The ‘Bonset’ Skirt!

bonset2Sometimes you need to give yourself a pat on the back for the ‘genius’ you have created, so here we are *pats oneself on the back*, because look at our clever, new skirt shape we have created!

When you want to wear two of your favourite skirts at the one time, but don’t know which one to choose – fret no longer, we’ve got your back (quite literally!).

This is our new ‘Bonest‘ Skirt – an amalgamation of the Baby Bonnie skirt and Sunset Skirt. She’s the perfect combination of the two featuring the shorter length of the Baby Bonnie with its full shape and cut and the wider pleating and pockets of the Sunset skirt.

A perfect shape to wear for all occasions in a fun range of colours and patterns.

Perfect teamed back with stockings, leggings or boots in the cooler weather and great worn in the hotter m0nths with sandals.

She also looks great with our new Every Day Rizzo Studio 54 tops available in two neutral colours – black and blue – so you can easily team back with any one of the Bonset Skirts.

Versatility, quality and fun-filled prints that are practical, are always what we strive for here at Made590.

Get in quick if you’d like to have your very own, these have walked off to many happy homes this week!

NEW: ‘Every Day’ Katie Skirt

KATIEA ‘tried and tested’ shape which we’ve had for many years, is now part of our Every day range because, well, it’s one of those staples that you can quite literally wear everyday; Monday through to Sunday – for work wear and for weekend wear!

We call Katie – “the skirt for people who love to wear jeans, but want to transition to skirts’! The Katie is one of the most versatile skirt shapes in our range with customers buying both our denim and black stretch denim drills to alternate through the week; they love them THAT much!

She is a lovely tapered shape, not quite pencil, not quite A-line. She’s somewhere in between and works perfectly for work or dressy events. She has a flattering wide waistband, tapered silhouette, front side pockets with cute placket detail, a doubled panel hem line that sits just past the knee and a zip at the back. Quite possibly the most flattering skirt for those who like the idea of a pencil skirt, but have never been able to find one that works. This skirt has a similar feel, but is an easy fit as it’s made from wonderful stretch cotton drill with two small tucks to allow for movement on your hips. The pockets are placed on the hips to give wiggle room and comfort where other skirts can pull and hug too tightly.

You can wear this skirt two different ways;  1) either on the hips or 2) may be worn more mid-waisted, depending on the size you buy. It is suggested you go down a size if you would like a higher waist fit. Wear Katie with your favourite work blouse or button down shirt, we love her with our Shirley shirts, Trixie shirts and even our Indigo, Ginny blouses. Team back with a Felicity or Every Day Phoebe Top as  your go-to work attire for the Winter weather or layer an Every Day Keyhole Top and match with a caridgan and coat.   Tuck your tops into the flattering wide waistband and create a seamless contemporary look which will flatter in all the right places. Wear Katie to a special event and feel comfy and cool, she loves to be out and about, and is comfy enough to throw on for weekend fun too.

SIZING: Available in sizes XS – XL. The XS is new to the Katie skirt range!

FABRIC: 100% stretch drill

NEW: Men’s Inner West Icons Tee Online & Instore now!

innerwesticonscoal

inner west icons armyinner_west_icons_armyNEW INNER WEST

If you thought you loved our original Inner West Icons print, you’ll be over the moon when you see what our talented, in house graphic designer Kirbee Lawler has been working on. And to top it off, it is available in our popular blindwear mens tees after much demand!

You’ll find some of the most Iconic Inner West buildings – some still open and in business, and some from a memorable by-gone era! We feature the pretty in pink, ‘Marie Louise Salon’ on Enmore Rd, Enmore which was owned by a brother and sister duo: Nola and George Mezher. We have heard on the grapevine from previous customers of the salon that one of Nola’s friends, who was a hair model in the 70’s, would sit in the window of the salon reading a magazine, whilst Nola worked on her hair! Such fun and flirty advertising – we love hearing stories like this! Now transformed into the casual fine dining Turkish restaurant, ‘Stanbuli’ with all exterior aesthetics still honoured and in original condition.

We also feature ‘The Imperial Hotel’ on Erskineville Rd, Erskineville a hotspot for the past 13yrs for the LGBTI community that was recently closed but has now now reopened screaming acceptance, unity and equality!

The ‘Rio Milkbar’ in Summer Hill that was owned by George Poulos for a whopping 63 yrs, where he made milkshakes in a shirt and tie everyday without fail! We also feature the famous white building with red and white font on the corner of Canal Rd and Princess Highway. Yes, that’s right, you guessed it, the ‘Dynamo Auto Electrician’ a family run business that have been operating for almost 50yrs! Of course we also get in there the, ‘Oxford Tavern’ notorious for its reputation as a saucy pub (and I don’t mean tomato sauce!) once know for its topless barmaids, exotic strippers and those neon lights – the bar has undergone a makeover and transformed into a Southern Style urban pub, with funky cocktails!

How could we go past an inner West t-shirt, without featuring the award winning family owned, ‘Cow and the Moon’ gelato shop. Located on Enmore Road, they’re known for their world’s best ‘affogato’ flavour – yes you read that right – they placed number one in the world for their affogato ice cream with caramelised almonds sourced from Italy with Madagascan vanilla base.

Other icons we couldn’t go past include the uber cool and hip Mary’s burgers known for their craft beer and American style burgers with super soft buns, beef patties and a whole lot of melted cheese – we call it the adult version of McDonald’s flavours. A rock ‘n’ roll vibe with slaytanic font on the menus, an ode to thrash metal – which is on high rotation; think Slayer, Metallica, Megadeath, Pantera and Machine head – overall, an eclectic music selection, with timber décor  and people queuing all through to the mezzanine for a taste of what Mary’s has to offer.

Blokes with beards and filled to the brim growlers. Yep, the ‘Young Henry’s’ Brewery in Enmore has been instrumental in creating a new and revamped bar scene in Sydney; and also a pretty hipster vibe on the streets with growlers in tow. With a low impact environmental philosophy, having a night out can be spent guilt free – more or less! Young Henry’s encourage reusing their glass growlers to avoid waste, this also means you can get it filled straight from the brewery meaning this is as fresh as it gets.

A favourite of mine is the reusable teal coffee cup with the salmon lid. Coffee culture is one of the main contenders for the Inner West gaining its popularity. With a coffee shop on every corner, you’re never short of places to try. The Inner West community has been influential in trying to minimise plastic consumption though, so you’ll see a lot of reusable takeaway coffee cups in customized colours and variations on the streets!

How could we not include our neighbouring pub ‘The Union Hotel’, with a fresh, new look. Known for its craft beers on tap, it welcomes people near and far for a traditional, casual pub experience or a more restaurant feel with the cocktail lounges outback and moody lighting. Or spend some time in the Beer Garden on a hot summer’s afternoon. The Union is often called an institution as it symbolizes everything the Inner West is known for – a melting pot of different walks of life, a larger community that accepts one another, and welcomes diversity.

To finish off we have the ‘Save the Inner West’ – West Connex signs. The Inner West is known for its protests, more specifically voicing community issues through street protests – we generally have a pretty ‘activist’ approach especially when our local community is at threat. Over 800 trees at our local Sydney Park have already been chopped down to make way for the 33km toll road ‘West Connex’ project that have taken peoples homes, our local parkland and green spaces.

FEATURES: Made on a coal base perfect to wear both dressy and casual! The map itself is coloured, with loads of inner west building references and suburb typography including. What’s your favourite thing about the Inner West?! The perfect gift for an Inner Westie and for those who love the Inner West!

Aggie Dress makes a return in Gertrude Made Fabric!

I think it’s safe to say we’ve had a pretty breathtaking Winter here in Sydney. Wouldn’t you agree? With the sun blaring and a slight, winter breeze it’s kind of been the perfect weather to wear all of your favourite outfits for weekend frolicking in the park and evening dates!

Who ever said you can’t dress how you want in the Winter?! Frocks and skirts and all the colour galore, we say! And to celebrate we’ve released a second lot of our very popular Gertrude Made fabric in the Aggie Dress. She flew in and out when she was first released, so we worked hard on getting a second lot for all those people who missed out.

This is her in both colours; the Kirstine Blue on the left and Elaine Green on the right.

If you haven’t already got the Aggie dress, she’s the perfect tran-seasonal piece as you can wear her in the warmer weather, but can also layer in the cooler weather as well. She has a modest neckline – not too high, not too low – and a cinched in gathered waist making her the perfect feminine silhouette. This style makes it easy to wear a basic underneath without it appearing too bulky, perfect teamed back with a cardigan or coat. You can easily transform this into a special occasion dress with a metallic or neutral belt available online or instore.

Get in quick if you don’t want to miss out! She’s a special one this, Aggie in the most beautiful barkcloth fabric!

Belt, belts, belts…

Our very popular belts are back in stock and we have some new shades as well to welcome them back in for the Winter!

If you haven’t already heard, we’ve teamed up with a small family business in Greece – who have been in the leather business since 1947 – to create these quality accessories.

If you own a pair of our sandals that we released back in Summer, this exact business is the same one that have made these belts exclusively for us here at Made590!

The quality is superb, and unlike cheap and nasty belts, these are all cut as a single piece meaning the backing won’t separate and the colour won’t peel.

With a width of 4cm, you can team these back with a pair of pants as a dressier option for work or special/formal occasions, where it with jeans or your favourite made590 skirt or dress.

The belts can either be worn high-waisted or lower on your hip. If you do tend to wear your belts on your hip, you will need to size up for this option.

The belts come in a wide size range to suit all style and fit needs from S – XL.

belt width is 1.5inches or 3.8cm on all sizes
