The Emily top is a new style we have made to cover you all year round. We wanted a structured but loose shape which will work with jeans, but can be layered under our pinafores like a shirt. This is a mock neck style which doesn't come up too high and she will become a new favourite this season with her cute set in elbow length sleeve and keyhole detail.
FEATURES: This cute little top is the perfect structured shape which will lend itself to many different combinations. We will be wearing ours with Valentina skirts, sunset skirts and under our pinafores instead of our jersey basics. We also imagine her working perfectly with a pair of jeans or dressy pants for work, or even a basic skirt such as Kenzie or a plain coloured Valentina. She isn't too blousy for tucking in, but will drape nicely when you wear her out. She has nice feature darts that lead from the shoulder creating an interesting line on this top which is also a nice fit. Emily is shaped with a beautiful back seam which brings in the waist but also allows for it to still have a loose body and if finished off with side splits at the hip. She is a longish length which hit at the low hip on most, but is also a nice length to tuck into layers.
HOW TO WEAR: We love our Emily top being worn out with a pair of shorts, but it also looks great dressed up for a night on the town. She's a great dressy casual option. We love that Emily is a good shape for winter as you can wear her in place of a turtleneck, but without feeling strangled. She creates a similar look when layered, but also is very versatile when paired with any of the bottoms from our range. Peta pants and Emily tops paired together for weekends look great, but Emily looks so good with ultra feminine styles like Valentina, as she doesn't add too much detail up top, and can tone down feminine styles. She has a structured shoulder with a set-in sleeve, and she offers something new to your wardrobe without making a huge statement. We make Emily in a lovely range of soft fabrics which have great drape for dressiness, but also tuck and layer well year-round.
PRINT: Possum Magic by Andrea Smith.
ABOUT THE ARTIST: Andrea Smith is a Sydney based illustrator who specialises in paper cut artworks which she creates from paper she has painted with watercolour paints. This creates tones and textures that give the finished animals depth and colourful undertones. These Possums were created first in sketch form and then by free hand cutting around the shapes to layer and create the possums in full. We love Andreas process and love working with these amazing paper cuts to then create the fabric repeat.
FABRIC: Bamboo, light weight and breezy to wear, this fabric layers beautifully and is lovely and light to wear in summer.
