The original Made590 store first opened it's doors to the public back in October 2004, in a beautiful little corner shop in Newtown that Christina instantly fell in love with and just couldn’t say no to! At the time there were no solid plans for a shopfront, but when a perfect little retail space calls, sometimes you just have to take that giant leap and go for it. And, it's a very good thing she did, as made590 has quickly become a little icon of Australian-made fashion.
The brand has grown and changed in leaps and bounds after launching our Every Body inclusive range in August 2018, tackling the size inclusive landscape head-on and making our range accessible to a range of sizes. We are now dedicated to only producing in inclusive sizing (sizes 8-26), because we feel that's just how it should be!
The made590 range has grown in leaps and bounds and is now offering more styles and prints than ever before. Made590 is known today for it's perfectly fitting dresses, practical basics and it’s bold fabric designs which are often made in collaboration with local artists or designed right here, in house. Our design team are constantly talking ideas, prints and new shapes. Made590 is the kind of place where an idea can be born from a single conversation and executed in an afternoon to be released that year.
We also offer a huge range of both digitally printed and hand screen printed mens tees featuring our designs, which are also the first product Christina started her brand with almost 20 years ago. We also stock an extensive range of beautiful designer gifts for all occasions, as well as great seasonal accessories, shoes and jewellery by local designers.
Our shop is no longer located in that same beautiful little Newtown corner store. We outgrew our space long before we actually moved across town to Marrickville, but Christina had that same feeling walking into the new Madespace as she did 16 years earlier walking into 590 king street. The perfect spot, full of potential with loads of character, just on a much bigger scale.
We have also strived to make our website as close to our in-store shopping experience as possible. We take pride in our extensive range of models on the site (most of the ladies featured are made590 staff and customers!), as we try to represent a wide cross section of body shapes, ages, sizes, skin tones and also heights so you can see what our clothing looks like on real people, as well as being able to see how wonderful the fit is on everyone!
