Garment Sizing

Measurements are taken across the front of the garment while laid flat. Double to find total circumference of garment and if in doubt measure a garment you own that fits well and compare. If you’ve never measured a garment or yourself before, we have a guide under “Whats my size?” above.

We are so happy to add a new cardigan shape to our line up this year. Maple is perfectly designed with multiple outfit combos in mind! She is a relaxed fit in the body, with a fitted arm like our Clementine and Primrose cardigans, with the perfect vintage style shawl collar.

MADE590 MERINO FEATURES: This 100% mercerised merino wool cardigan is knitted locally by our very special knitter who we have worked with for over 10 years! Knitting locally is something we are passionate about and also allows us to pick and choose our own colours! We planned this range months ago and sent samples off to be dyed to our winter colour palette. The mercerisation of the merino cleverly means there will be minimal pilling and that the fibres will last longer and not get fuzzy after a few wears.  We look forward to wearing these every year when that cool snap hits, and we hope if you don't already have one you’ll add one to your wardrobe to understand our love and passion for these locally made knitwear pieces.

FEATURES:

  • Relaxed fit body (not quite as fitted as Primrose), regular fit sleeve Semi cropped length similar to our Mabel cardigan
  • The ribbed waistband is designed to pull the bottom in slightly and make silhouette come in at your waist, perfect worn with any of our dresses!
  •  Our signature textured knit which gives this cardigan a lovely warm look without too much bulk.
  • 100% merino wool to keep you extra toasty!
  • Turn under front bind (this is a new style of finish we are so happy with!) which is streamline at the front so the knit pattern goes to the edge and reinforced at the back with merino knit binding
  • Collar is shaped out of knit rib for a perfect finish
  • Wooden Daisy Buttons

HOW TO WEAR:

  • Pair Maple with any of our dresses or layer her over jersey dress like Edie long sleeve.
  • Layer her with any higher waist items and the cropped length will pair perfectly!
  • Being semi fitted through the body and bust, this cardigan will feel softer than our other shapes and it’s perfect for days where you don’t want to wear a tight knit but still want to be warm and cosy
  • Maple’s vintage style collar pairs well with structured items to soften the look of an outfit
  • Wear Mabel with your summer dresses with layers for warmth, and she can be belted over her waistband for extra oomf and a “put together” finish

COLOUR: Grey Marle which we have previously used for our Harriet vest last year.

KNIT: Patchwork knit, medium hold and give. A patchwork design all over with a vintage feel.

Designed and Made in Sydney, Australia. We use local makers we have worked one on one with for many years. All knitwear is locally knitted by one of the last knitters in Australia!

FABRIC: 100% mercerised Australian merino wool, buttons are 100% wood.

This 100% mercerised merino wool is super special so we want to explain the difference you will feel when purchasing our knits compared to others you may own!

Mercerised merino is SUPER soft and silky, it hardly feels like wool. It is made this way to feel and drape like silk yarn does. It undergoes a chemical process when the wool soaked to remove the tiny itchy fibres called "scales", and when spun into yarn the thread is coated in a silicon like material which smooths and polishes the thread into a luxurious yarn. This makes the knits have a completely soft feel and they are highly resistant to pilling. This yarn is then dyed to our colour specifications and knitted into our beautiful garments by our local (Sydney) knitted Bill.

CARE: We recommend treating your cardigans as carefully as possible, to allow you to wear them for years to come. We wash ours only when really needed, as wool is a very breathable and resilient fibre. To wash place your cardigan in a delicates bag, wash only with mild wool wash detergent, on a delicates cycle. Alternatively a soft hand wool wash will keep your cardigan looking even better for longer. Never wring, rub or bleach your cardigan.

COLD WATER WASH ONLY.

Reshape when wet and allow to dry laying flat in shade. Do not wash with anything that might rub or create pulls in the wool. If you do snag your cardigan on something, pull the thread gently to the inside of your cardigan and NEVER cut the threads, this will unravel the knit and create a hole. Wash at the end of the season (to avoid moth damage, they like to eat the dirty bits of wool!) and store your cardigan with cedar balls when not being worn, as moths find these 100% wool cardigans very tasty!

Standard fit similar to Mabel from two seasons ago. Stay your regular size or size up one if you prefer more room through the body or more length.

Please click at the top of the listing for our size chart, these are taken flat and unstretched. When reading our size chart please keep in mind that measurements are approximate only, as they are hand measured and the knit has a lot of give! Feel free to contact us directly if you'd like help finding your perfect size!

Please note that when you first put on your cardy this is the smallest it will be as the fibres have not yet relaxed. Your knit will soften and give over time so don't be afraid to stick with a size if it feels snug initially. We recommend you get a size if it will button smoothly over your chest. Wool will give at least 1-1.5cm so if the buttons gape ever so slightly at the bust this will end up a perfect fit once the cardigan is allowed to give through wearing.
